Hi everyone I’m sorry one of the curriculum developers at CodePath and I’m here to tell you about copath cyber security pathway this pathway consists of two levels cyber 101 and cyber 102. Let’s talk about each of them in cyber 101 students from any background can discover the world of cyber security during the first seven weeks students will complete a variety of projects sampling many different subfields of cyber security each unit picks a new topic to explore and gives students hands-on experience performing cyber security activities using a new real-world tool here are some of the tools students use in cyber for the last three units of the course students will work together on fish tank coming up with their best pitch for a cyber security investment together groups research plan and present their pitches on demo day in cyber 102 students with prior Computing experience explore the skills they need to get started as cyber Security Professionals in particular we’ll focus on Blue Team cyber security and sock activities one of the most desirable subfields of cyber security for interns in early career professionals to help students develop skills they can take beyond the course each unit has students using real industry tools to perform blue team activities students can expect to configure install and use a variety of software throughout the course and should leave with a strong understanding of Linux system operation for the final project of the course students will simulate their own full blue team incident response process in the data dig they’ll choose a data set and incident response Playbook then work together to use the tools they’ve learned to analyze and respond to the incident during the last class session they’ll share their findings at demo day thank you both courses are 10 units long with each unit consisting of a lesson lab and project the lesson is 30 to 60 Minutes long and will consist of discussion instructor demos and context on the topic the lab is your chance to try things out to learn through doing and to collaborate with your peers the project is how your chance to show what you’ve learned completed outside of class between sessions you’ll use real world tools to complete a given task because we use Azure labs for our environments you’ll need to make sure you have access to a Microsoft Azure account for this course don’t worry you won’t need any credits for these courses excited once you apply you’ll be placed in one of the levels and given access to the pre-work assignment the pre-work is a short mandatory task that helps us assess your Readiness for the course it helps you determine if the course is right for you for cyber 101 your pre-work will require you to start thinking like a cyber security professional we’ll give you some questions to explore and respond to for cyber 102 we’ll also test your Readiness for the course with a Linux terminal challenge don’t worry we’ll provide links to resources that can help you find your way thank you so much for your interest in the cyber security pathway at CodePath for more information please check out our website or reach out to admissions CodePath.org bye
